Messing about...

...on the river...

Set off after breakfast for Ranworth Broad, and a walk to St Helen's Church: 89 steps, two ladders and a trap door to the top of the tower and 360° views!
Stayed for coffee aboard ;)

Another stop at St Benet's Abbey and a walk up to the ruins - see main. It is the only Norfolk monastery founded in the Anglo-Saxon period which continued in use throughout the Middle Ages. It is also the only monastery in England which was not closed down by Henry VIII- the Bishop of Norwich is still the Abbot.

A potter to Potter Heigham and an ice cream followed. Lucky that we did a recce on Sunday and booked a day boat for tomorrow, as there were no other spare moorings and the guy at the hire place let us tie up for free for two nights!

A bit damp today - hoping for sun for tomorrow's excursion...
