‘Hand Signals’
We went with the grandchildren to the newly refurbished Burrell Collection in Pollok Park this afternoon. It's in a beautiful setting with lots of light and glass surrounded by trees.
I was particularly struck by this Ming Dynasty ‘Figure of a Warrior.’(1368-1644)
The notes indicate that a clenched fist can mean different things in different cultures. It can be a sign of anger, but it could mean strength or wisdom for this Chinese warrior.
I assume the same can be said of the raised finger, too!
