Apples and Oranges

Today was interesting...
I managed to do some small things outside and then my cousin and her husband came to borrow a key for our summer cottage. When we were standing there, I saw a small dog coming our way and it went around the car and greeted us. No collar, no lead... My cousin picked it up, so it wouldn't run away and we started looking around for anyone who might be looking for a dog. Nothing...
I suggested we'd call the police to come and pick it up, because they where on their way and I couldn't have a dog in my home because of my allergies and asthma. I had only suggested the police when I saw a large police car coming our way. My cousin started walking towards it with the dog in her arms and I was right behind her, waving at the police to stop. It did, it was a higher ranking officer in the car and he was helpful. He tried to contact his coworkers to see if anyone reported a missing dog, or if there was a car free to come pick it up.
Meanwhile, my cousins husband saw one of my neighbours walking her small dogs and asked her if she recognised it and knew where it lived. She did, and she pointed out a house further down the street, so my cousin and I went there to see. When we arrived, we saw that there was a compost grid in between the posts to the fence around the outer garden/patio. It was one of those compost grids you connect 4 sides and then connect them to a square, but this one was just straight and the little dog had no problem wriggling itself outside. No one was home and I went back to the police and my cousins husband, to tell them that we thought it was the right house but didn't know. The police man drove his car closer to this house and knocked on the door to the neighbour, and another neighbour opened the door to tell us that they weren't home. So, we asked them if they knew the dog and where it lived, and they did! They said they'd take care of the dog until the owner came back, and the police man told them to tell the owner to get a better gate, so the dog wouldn't run away again.
And we went our separate ways. I wanted to tell the police man that I feel so safe when they drive by, but I didn't get the possibility. Perhaps next time.
I got so tired after that so I've mostly rested, been a little bite creative and done some minor clearing up.

The blip is of my interpretation  of todays prompt, and I used scraps from my Scrappy8 friends.
