Danksound's Musing

Sanctuary

A quiet sit outside St Botolph's Aldgate in glorious sunshine with a cup of coffee!! This lovely sculpture Sanctuary is the work of Naomi Blake, 1985 and dedicated to All Victims of Oppression and it stands on the forecourt of the church.

"Unveiled in 1985 'Sanctuary' at St Botolph without Aldgate church, London was designed by Naomi Blake. Born in Czechoslovakia she survived internment at Auschwitz concentration camp, and subsequently studied art at the Hornsey School of Art, London from 1955 - 1960. She is a fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors"

I think it's beautiful in its simplicity.
