Nature At Its Best

We had a young woman refresh the mulch around the flower and shrubs today. When she was almost finished she called me from her cell phone in the front yard to tell me to come out and check out the snake. She was ready to pack up. He slithered to just below the front door where he had cornered a small bird (a baby Blue bird I think) and then proceeded to eat it. Fascinating but very sad!! We did get the mulch finished in case you were wondering and eventually the snake moved on but I’ll be sure to look before I step outside for awhile. It was a Rat Snake, harmless except to rats I guess.
