The childhood village
It was a day of memories for my husband. We were back to his birthplace. We started by planting flowers on his parents' grave. Then we went to the café that "has always existed" in the village and had fika.
Extras: Then followed a walk in the village on Kaffegatan (Coffee street). The military had large training fields in the area in the summers and when the soldiers came there, people on Kaffegatan started selling fika, they simply opened a small café in their homes. The street was originally called something completely different but was popularly called Kaffegatan, so it changed its name to that officially as well. The photo shows Kaffegatan 18, one of the oldest houses on the street and which at the time had a home café in the building.
My husband had memories of a stream where he and his friends had adventurous excursions, among other things they followed the stream upstream to see where it started. But they never came to that, because sometimes the stream disappeared into the ground and was not visible and the boys were only like twelve years old and had no maps. The stream was of course much bigger, even a river, when my husband was a little boy:-)
We passed a forest edge with wildflowers. Most likely, some homeowner nearby has dumped their garden waste there and thus a wild meadow has emerged. It did not exist in my husband's time, but I thought it was so pretty so I had to include it in a photo.
We continued to the open-air museum with old buildings from the area. There we had to settle for peeking in through the windows, because it was closed. But it worked too. And there we ended our walk in my husband's childhood village.
