From a distance I spotted this rather lovely model of a yacht. It was in the upper window of a converted Victorian brick built warehouse. 

Most such local buildings prior to the mid-19th century were built of Cotswold stone, but the arrival of the canal allowed alternative materials to be imported into the area relatively cheaply, compared to being brought on the back of a cart.

Eventually a brickworks was built near Stonehouse using clay from the Severn vale in which it was situated. Stonehouse bricks are renowned for their immense density which produces great strength as well as good insulation. However as we found to our cost, since our house was built in the 1930s of Stonehouse bricks, it is impossible to drill into them so DIY can be a nightmare!
