Why I Love Tomatoes
The photos of me with my paternal grandparents were taken when I was about four years old. My grandfather used to grow tomatoes in a heated greenhouse. You can see in the bottom photo how successful he was.
I can remember being allowed to pick the very small ones as they ripened, and eating them fresh off the vine. The thing I don't remember doing is uprooting all the new plants right after my grandfather planted them. The story has been told many times at family gatherings.
I think that must have been the only time I was naughty.
