A day for visits
and relaxing in the shade -
Summer days are full

My daughter and I were off in the car looking for my favourite coffee vendor at 8:00. Then, we were off to my brother's a few miles away from our motel.
I parked in front of my Mother's lilac bush that is big enough to call a tree. It shaded my car on this hot day. My brother bought my Mother's house many years ago so it was delightful to note her favourite rose bushes are still producing fabulous blooms. My daughter picked up some shears and gave the bushes a good trim. (My brother is no gardener.)
We three had plans for lunch together in my favourite Italian restaurant in the downtown. I had the Zuppa Toscana. The waiter filled my bowl three times. He left us with a stack of chocolate mints so my daughter folded one chocolate wrapper into a Japanese crane which she left on the table.
We had a very brief stop at a local lavender farm, but they were not open to the public today. I had to admire the crop over the fence. I must do better planning next season.
From many points in Langley, one can see the glistening Mt. Baker on a clear day. It sits in the state of Washington below the US/Canada border. It is labelled as a stratovolcano and is active and glacier-covered. Today was perfect for postcard shots of Mt. Baker.
We have plans to rendez-vous at 6 PM in another favourite restaurant. Meanwhile, a nap in in order.
