Just Five Spots
. . . on each forewing.
The narrow-bordered five-spot burnet moth, Zygaena lonicerae.
I have found this species to be very localised. Just on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy, beside the coastal path, it is common to see the six-spot version. But, near the ruin of Seafield Tower, just 50 yards off the track, it is the 5-spot one that dominates.
