Union Square, San Francisco
Another full day. We moved to our second hotel, the Grand Hyatt, cause Martin got some great rates for us. So much nicer, but the other place was just fine too. It's the talk cream building kind of right in front of the tram.
Also met up with my friend Bonnie from HK. We met at Union Square where I took this picture. Although it looks nice and warm, we're FREEZING!!! It's about 17C (probably colder) and very breezy! Bonnie will be staying with us tonight and its great to see a familiar face. We explored more of the city today and had rides in a few taxis where I got to speak Arabic and Urdu. Yesterday even managed to find a Chinese taxi driver! Yes we are in America.
Had lunch at Macy's, then Bonnie took me to an AMAZING fabric shop that had every kind of fabric your mind can imagine. I really wanted to blip the pix from the shop, but might have to add to my blip folio when I get home.
For dinner, Bonnie took us to a very hip and trendy pizza place (recommended by her son) which is all the rage in San Francisco currently called Unapizza Napoletana. They only have 5 pizzas on the menu and one extra to choose from on a Saturday. Fantastic pizzas and we only waited about 20 minutes for a table. Felt privileged to have been there.
Back at Union Square, but not before we stopped at 7/11 to pick up some supplies. I don't think I've ever seen so many homeless people around who are actually scary and standing tall and asking for money. Nonetheless, we continue to love being here and it's Alcatraz tomorrow ...
