Plant News

Unusually, a late flight so a bit of bonus day. Nicely warm, in the high twenties. Foolishly I check the forecast for tomorrow back home. Thirteen degrees, with a fresh NE breeze making it “feel like” nine?
The SK heads to the pool; I find myself retreating to the balcony where the Bougainvillea is in full bloom. Well, the fridge needed emptied. Into my good self. Anyway, I didn’t realise that the plant is actually a native of South America - the first European to describe the plants being Philibert Commerçon, a botanist accompanying the French Navy admiral Louis Antoine de Bougainville during his circumnavigation of the globe in the 1760s. Fancy that!
