Holy Cow! Did You See That Amazing SKY?
We've had a heat wave that's been stunning in various parts of the U.S. all week. If you like it to be 80 degrees at 10 at night and 8 in the morning, and well into the 90s in the heat of the day, that's your own business. I myself do NOT. I am a cool-weather girl, and this heat has been TRYING, to say the least.
Then the remnants of Hurricane Beryl moved through. Around here, it spawned some pretty good storms with heavy rain. As it moved through central Pennsylvania, into the warmer valleys of the Susquehanna, the system picked up energy, and turned quite nasty in spots.
There was an outbreak of tornadoes in New York state, in Chautauqua and Erie Counties. They will be picking up and cleaning up after that damage for a while. Of course, there were power outages to go along with it.
My husband and I rode out the storms in central Pennsylvania. They passed through here late in the afternoon, and then conditions were quite muggy and awful for a while, before it started to clear. Cooler temps are on the way for tomorrow; MUCH cooler, thank God. It may not even get out of the 70s!
Around 9 p.m., my husband and I wandered into the living room to watch a TV show, only to discover that everything in the whole place was reflecting shades of orange and pink! And sunset looked like it was happening in the wrong place; it was the sky to the EAST of us that was lit!
We ran out like little children under the magic of that glorious orange and pink sky, and just looked and looked and looked until it faded down to purple. There were two birds on the power lines above me, and I took a few shots, thinking (as I always do) that they looked like musical notes. They, like us, seemed to be watching that amazing sky!
My soundtrack song features the playing of a song in which the birds on wires are the musical notes. Here is Birds on the Wires. Enjoy!
