Oh Jimmy Jimmy!
Up at ridiculous o'clock to head to London on my day off. The Severn tunnel is shut, so we're having to go the long route up to Gloucester and across.
I was making my way to Lords, my first visit to the home of cricket and day one of the first test against the West Indies. It was also Jimmy Anderson's last test and what a marvelous servant he has been to English cricket.
I had fantastic seats and was well impressed with the organisation. Despite the dodgy weather, the test started on time and it wasn't until late afternoon that bad light stopped play, before they were able to resume.
Before lunch England had taken 3 wickets, but after lunch they skittled the West Indies out and luckily Jimmy got one of the wickets. England came out strong then on the batting and look like they're going to wrack up a big total in the first innings. This game could be all over by Friday, which is disappointing as a contest.
I then made my way to the hotel near our London office to watch the football. England got a very dodgy penalty, but came through with the win in the end with a great goal. London was bouncing.
My young padawan messaged me after the game, with a selfie of her screaming. She's a star!
Absolutely shattered tonight, so I will be having a lie in tomorrow morning.
Today I am thankful for:
1. A great day at the cricket
