Meet...
...Ginger...
Just before I went on holiday my friend Abi had caught Ginger. She had been visiting her garden and was very friendly so she put post up on a local Facebook group to see if anyone was missing her. Just the usual horrible comments form people!
She then tried the SSPCA and the Cat's Protection - neither would take her but the CP put a post on heir local FB page and someone appeared in her garden one day trying to catch her! At the time Abi didn't know the sex but this woman was adamant 'he' was her cat and had been missing since January. Ginger ran away so Abi arranged with the woman that she would catch her and put her in a pet carrier.
She caught Ginger the next day and messaged the woman and got all sorts of excuses. Abi didn't know what to do so I took over my large dog crate so that she at least had room to move about and we popped in a litter tray. She spent two nights in there while she tried to contact the 'owner'. The 'owner' eventually ghosted her so Abi took Ginger to the vet the next day to see if she was chipped. Nope. And he was actually a she, so she was never that woman's cat. Even if it had been her cat, she did not deserve to have him back after the way she made excuses and then ghosted Abi. Honestly, the behaviour of some people!
Abi ended up letting her go thinking that she would never come back after being stuck in a crate for two nights. She was actually quite relaxed and settled for a trapped cat and has been back every day and at first they tried to ignore her but she was starving... And now, two weeks on from crating her, Abi has finally found a cat group who will rehome her. She is the sweetest wee thing and just needs some love and cuddles! Abi is retired and her husband is about to retire and they plan to travel so can't take on a cat full time just now. It wouldn't be fair. I just home she can be rehomed soon!
Anyone looking for a wee Ginger cat...?
