Accommodation

The apartment was very spacious and had all we needed but the heating was stuck on permanently so it was baking! We could turn off all the rads except for one double one in the living area so you'd think not so bad but even with all the windows open it was still too hot because the floors had lots of pipes running under them. The bedroom was not too bad with the window open so we managed with the one fan in the living area.
Another problem was that the flat was said to be "first floor"....and it wasn't! On entry through the river - sorry, the flooded area on the bottom corridor, you came through a door into a nice hallway. Up 12 stairs to a little landing, turn right, up 5 more stairs and open the apartment door to a small hallway and 13 very steep, winding stairs up to the accommodation! Also - the light at the bottom of these steep stairs did not work and neither did the one at the top, which was pretty hazardous in the dark. We did not bother the host as this problem had already been reported by previous occupants! He couldn't be ar*ed, it was obvious. He told us re the heating that a plumber was coming on Tuesday to it. Never happened. We also had to negotiate all this water on the bottom corridor which was supposedly being sorted soon but Terry noticed the skirting boards were rotten and bellied out from the walls so it had clearly been like this for some time. This corridor led to/ / from the car park, the bar and restaurant and the main street. There was no other way in and out. See extra.
