It’s a strange old year so far….

The weather has been cool and damp with little sun yet my first tomatoes are at least 2 weeks earlier than usual- and I was late putting them in too.

The cucumbers are growing slower than ever and the beans at the allotment are a good three weeks behind. The excuse there is that they are outside.

Not much to report today. A day of domestic activity. We went to see Wayward Jane this evening. https://www.waywardjane.com/. An excellent band and a very entertaining evening. We were congratulating ourselves for having a good view when late arrivals after the performance started sat in front. The chap was wearing a hat. I had to ask him to remove it. He did, I could tell he wasn’t keen.

There was some upsetting news from Sanday in the Orkneys yesterday where 70 pilot whales had stranded on Tresness beach, reigniting memories of a stranding 30 years ago. It was poignant for us having walked that beach in May. A sad sight indeed
