Sweet Phoebe
The Phoebe's have raised their young but they are still around, thankfully. They are solitary birds and often return to the same nest year after year. In this case, they return to the nest they built in the eave of my potting shed. A fun Phoebe fact, in 1804, the Eastern Phoebe became the first banded bird in North America. John James Audubon attached silvered thread to an Eastern Phoebe's leg to track its return in successive years. They can live for more than ten years so I'm sure this is "my" Phoebe who comes every year. Another sweltering day.
