The Curloo
What better name for the toilet by the carpark and outside the village hall in Cley next the sea. Norfolk. A village renowned for birdwatching.
Both free and an immaculate clean toilet. Just a letter box for donations. I bet most people don’t put anything in. Certainly sounded quite empty when I posted some coins.
As you can see at this time of year it is surrounded by hollyhocks.
We have enjoyed our last full day in Norfolk despite having constant fine mizzling all day.
After breakfast we went into Holt to see an art exhibition by Kieron Williamson, which A recommended.
Very interesting with a many varied paintings.
Portraits, landscapes and best of all the horses.
He is only 21 and described as a child prodigy.
In 2009 at his second exhibition his paintings sold out in 14 minutes, raising a total of £18,200 for 16 paintings.
Today they were very much out of our price
range!
Extra photo of the Barbers Shop in Holt.
Tonsorial Artist is a fancy word for a barber. From the Latin verb Tondēre meaning “ to shear, clip, or crop”
On to Aylsham where we had coffee in a delightful old fashioned tea room. ( Nothing to eat!)
Extra photo taken outside the Black Boy Inn.
A plaque tells us that Admiral Lord Nelson attended a dance here, then the Assembly Rooms, on 15th December 1792.
Then down to Sheringham and a walk to the beach.
We parked by the station and were just in time to see little Wissington pulling out of the station on it’s way to Holt.
( see extra)
A walk round Cley and along the new board walk from the windmill down along the old Cley Channel.
Back to our B&B where A. had left tea and cakes ( three varieties) for us.
Finished the day off with a seafood platter at Byfords Holt.
Good job we are going home tomorrow as my trousers will hardly fasten!
