Dent

We had a day out in Lancashire and Yorkshire. The extras show examples. At the Batty Moss viaduct (otherwise known as the Ribbendale viaduct). We were very pleased to see a (modern) train crossing.

Then there was the sight of shorn sheep - looking cool on a grey and sometimes drizzly day.

Then Ruskin’s view ( painted by Turner) of the River Lune from Kirby Lonsdale - a lovely centre.

Then the Devil’s Bridge just outside Kirby Lonsdale where we found ourselves in the middle of a roadster car rally.

We decided to head back via Sedberg (another lovely spot). The narrow route took us through Dentdale. Twisty narrow roads with some squeezing across bridges. As we came down a slope towards Dent on our way to Cowgill, we were able to stop to take some photos of the viaduct. We were about to move off, windows shut, when the Cumbrian Mountain Express crossed in front of us. One quick photo through the windscreen produced this. As we set off again and turned a corner we came across many cars parked to view the train passing. It probably explained why there were so many cars also parked at Batty Moss.

Back (just) in time to pick up the pre-ordered fish suppers and catch up with the family.
