The final rites
One of our elderly was cremated today and we attended with 2 colleagues and one of our elderly the last rites. The lady who expired is someone in know allready from a previous care home. She was quite young (beginning 50 's ) and still functioning but some mental problems. I never saw visit from family except an older friend who came regulary. After this care home was shut down, for renovation, we had to move to another care home. She also moved to the same care home i worked. After some 3 y this home had to be renovated and again moving. But there our ways separated. So last year i retired, started my flexi job and moved some 4 months ago to a new care home. I was employed on the same ward where she was staying . But she was not in good health condition ( cancer). Ultimately she left the body the morning i had to work , and also cremation the day i was there. maybe a cosmic happening that i had to be there, whatever. The funeral was simple as she had no family and money. But in bruges there is a special ceremony where a poet writes a personal poem ( based on the life story of that person) for the deceased. i must say it was touching and heart warming. First time i witnessed this.
