Saturday: Idyllic
We were down in Placencia to have a look at a women’s seaweed farming collective to which we have given some funding.
We met members of the collective at 08.30 and then took a very choppy boat ride out to the seaweed farms. It took about an hour and involved a lot of bouncing up and down and being sprayed with lots of sea water. At one point, it felt like we were on a fake movie set with people off camera throwing buckets of water over us.
The site of the farm was very calm though. We snorkeled so we could see the farms and also tried a bit of tying of seaweed to lines ourselves (see extra).
We had a fabulous lunch at a resort on Ray Caye and also had a tour of resort. It’s a small private island - very serene and beautiful.
We then bounced our way back up to the mainland from where we headed up to Belmopan. It’s been a great way to spend the day.
