Harrumph!
Woke to the email telling me my train trip home was cancelled. That's fine, I can stay. Also we had a boat trip planned for the day, so we were up and out on the road to Portree.
As we parked in the carpark, our phones all pinged. It would seem that despite it being a lovely day, the sea was choppy, and the boat trip was cancelled!
We headed to the Waternish Peninsula and to the Stein Inn for lunch, but despite the door being open, we were told it was closed and not opening today.
We drove round, taking in the breath taking scenery, and stopped for cake at the cafe in Struan, which Banjo Beale re designed with that enormous stained glass wall from the Port of Leith.
From there, we headed home in time for the local pub opening so that we could be guaranteed (I use that word with caution) a table for food when they start serving at 5.30pm. We were ravenous.
We rarely drew breath throughout our trip, and all topics were covered.
