We've struck lucky and our trip coincided with a local fiesta. There was an amazing atmosphere in the town square after Spain won the Euros then a large group of people arrived with drums and fire torches and scary beast and devil masks. It was very sinister with the beat of the drums. They then lead a procession through town stopping at the roundabout where they lit Catherine wheels on the end of long poles and set off firecrackers spraying the crowd with showers of sparks. Health and safety out of the window! Earlier in the day they had strung fireworks across the road and set these off as they matched down the road. It ended with what seemed like a whole factory of fireworks going off! It was amazing. I've added a few extras.
Today we went to the street market in Old Town Pollenca. It was really hot and very busy but we got some good food. Had a trip to the beach this afternoon for swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding. I managed to stand up today! Then out for a lovely meal before meeting up with Eddie, Rosie, Isla and Evie, our friends from the village to go to the fiesta. They booked totally separately to us but the same dates and their hotel is opposite our apartment. What are the chances!!
