Friendly Face

I had to pop out at lunchtime, on the way I spotted this statue literally sticking out of a building. There was a sign under saying it was John Stewart the founder of the City of Glasgow Friendly Society (in the building his statue is now attached to!).

I've never heard of the term 'Friendly Society' before so I was a bit disappoint to hear it was just a financial services group (insurance, pensions etc). But, he does look friendly too!
