Re-purposed Housing
Sandygate is in the area known as the 'Weavers' Triangle', a now defunct industrial area of Burnley, Lancashire. This is Slater Terrace, a terrace of 11 cottages built by the local mill owner in 1848/50 for workers in his mill.
When the cotton industry declined the mills and the houses became derelict and the whole area was something of a mess.
A regeneration plan was implemented in the late 90s and continued for the next 20 years or so.
Slater Terrace is an example of what can be done - originally the individual cottages had four rooms (two-up, two-down) - they are now occupied by an eclectic range of small businesses. I think that is 'a result' >.. :-),
