The Bees in Bee Balm

We are having another extreme heat advisory day so we were up early and outside to get our tasks finished. (At 4:15, our thermometer is reading 102°F.). I cleaned and filled the bird feeders. We had a few ripe tomatoes and another squash ready to pick. Our butterfly bushes need to be dead headed; I got a good start on that job. The bee balm has been the favorite of the various bees that enjoy my garden flowers. You can see how they have stripped many of the flowers of their petals. I enjoyed watching them grab hold of the petals to get as much nectar as possible. The birds will feast on the seeds once they dry. Hubby mowed the rest of the lawn after he had our truck battery tested. We had an issue on the last camping trip and wanted to ensure it wasn’t battery related. Other good news from hubby. His blood tests indicate he is only pre-diabetic so he will modify his diet to keep his A1C in check. I started the first of two loads of laundry and packed for our WV trip. Lauren called and asked if I could watch River and Isla so she could run an errand. She was back quickly. As soon as I got home and started making lunch, hubby was asked to pick up Parker from the boat yard. Hubby had a follow up with his podiatrist. Otherwise, we hope to have a quiet evening. I hope yours is as well. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “It was the bumble bee and the butterfly who survived, not the dinosaur.” - Meridel Le Sueur
