Chelmsford Museum

Drove up through the traffic on M25 to Waltham Abbey to see our friends for a day of eating, talking and visiting local attractions.

Now driving home along M25 through torrential rain with speeding traffic and spray.

Bookended by lunch, afternoon tea then dinner we visited Chelmsford Museum. What a fine museum it is. Light, airy with excellent displays of the history of the local area from Mesolithic times to when Chelmsford became a city in 2012.

Amongst the many interesting galleries was one devoted to Marconi with a replica of the wireless cabin of the Titanic. At the other end of the spectrum was a section on Grayson Perry. I didn’t know much about the area. It’s a place with a fascinating history which is well told.

Today’s blip is of our friends taking a break from Chelmsford culture. In all their years in the area, this was their first visit to the museum.
