Last Visitors
Today I had probably my last visitors to the flat in Chesham. My sister and niece came up to help me dispose of all the accumulated stuff at the back of the garage, which I couldn’t get at while I still had the StreetKa in there. It was a filthy dirty job, with many cobwebs and dead spiders etc, but three of us working together made fairly swift work of it. We had to make two trips to the tip in two cars with the back seats down and filled to the brim. As always it felt good to fling bag after bag after bag into the skips.
We then went for some lunch down in the town and had a wander around, luckily avoiding the rain showers. My blip is a view towards the recently refurbished clock tower, with the clock itself now mended and chiming. It’s been broken for a few years, so I’m pleased to see and hear it going again before I leave the town. I’ve seen an original watercolour of it by a local artist which is for sale in the town’s gallery, so might pop down again tomorrow to buy it as a memento of my 28 year association with Chesham. I said goodbye to another long-time neighbour today - Allen, who had been quite poorly the last year or so but is looking much better now. I have been blessed to have really lovely neighbours in both Chesham and Tiptree, and my main sadness at moving away is that I will miss all my Bucks people.
A day of dismantling the hi-fi and tv setup tomorrow, and continuing to look around the flat for items that can be given away, as I fear I still have too many possessions to fit in the bungalow…
