For the Record
This tidy little square represents two people working for a good two hours this morning, clearing out very dense alstromeria roots and generally revitalizing the soil. The alstromeria will come back, no matter how well we sifted out those fleshy roots, but now there is a dahlia and a sweet geranium and some hidden gladiolus bulbs. There is also a very active gopher, who sucked down a neighboring plant last night. We were safe there for a couple months, but they are on the move again. All plants beware!
