Top Hat and Tails

A visit with family to the National Trust property Wightwick Manor. This property is only about 150 years old but it feels much older. It was the home of the Mander family and their brief to the architect, Edward Ould, was to provide a house with influences from the Aesthetic Movement and Arts and Crafts Movement. The walls are covered in wallpapers and wall hangings from William Morris.

When the family gifted it to the National Trust it was on the condition it remained as they left it, including furnishings. As such it is a completely original interior and an amazing example of its time.

The image is from the boot room, which includes this collection of hats as well as riding boots and similar items
