Hannover city statue

This statue in bronze with gold leaf is in the centre of the Old Town of Hannover in the Holzmarkt. It was commissioned and paid for by a local businessman before his death. The city accepted his money and agreed on having his memorial placed in this spot! That is the story told to me by my friends.
The plaque was too dark making it impossible to read his name.
