Gatekeeper #7
Today was a warm dry day with periods of sunshine, so we went in search of butterflies at Mere Sands Wood. They have a meadow field, but there is no path through it, just down the side of it. However, we could see quite a few butterflies moving about - whites, meadow browns, gatekeepers and one Red Admiral. This is very encouraging as there have been so few this year.
I was having trouble with my camera today, so I'm quite pleased that this one is actually in focus.
We didn't hang around too long as there were two rather full coach loads of primary school children coming to the reserve for a visit making lots of excited noise!
We had an hour at Martin Mere looking for terns - 2 common ones spotted, and green sandpipers - none seen. We did get two glimpses of the kingfisher, but my shot wasn't in focus :(
