The Giant Poppy Property Pretension

Today is another in my occasional housing development series. This is yet another nearby development promoted with overblown claims or just, what I consider to be, downright falsehoods. The developers promotional blurb appears to indicate that this development is in our "picturesque village" of Aylesford which benefits from "the convenience of local shops, pubs and schools and a thriving community atmosphere" with "beautiful views of the Kent Downs".
It fails to mention that this development is actually nearly two miles away from the supposedly thriving community of our village (in the last few years we have lost our bank, post office, main local pub and even the public toilets), is slap bang next to a congested main road and a motorway junction, that the local shops, pubs, schools having nothing to do with the developer and already cause serious traffic congestion which this development will just add to and that these properties will no more have beautiful views of the Kent Downs (which we have always called the North Downs locally) than I have a sea view from my bedroom window (we live more than 25 miles away from the coast).
It also amuses me the absurd or pretentious names that they give these developments - as I may have mentioned before they are usually named after something they have just destroyed or built on. This one is called "The Poppies" which is rather heavy handedly represented by the hulking great metal sign (surely the entire opposite of the ethereal qualities of this delicate flower) you can see in my image. Any chances of real poppies flourishing in this environment any time soon are not particularly enhanced by the application of thousands of tons of concrete, tarmac and bricks. Another entertaining fact about the development is that the most expensive prospective dwelling on offer on the development - a 5 bedroom house which is surely a snip at just £788,995 - is shown as residing on plot 666!
Taking all the above into account may help to explain why my shot has a rather sinister feel to it!
