And they're happy it's a lovely place to be
Tooli and Her Dad had a day out yesterday.
I won tickets to the Open yesterday and was able to transfer them to her.
Wow - I have never seen two people so reluctant to take a free pass.
They walked to the Golf Course - Our House sits at the end of a 2 mile bike path directly there. They were most excited by the Bomb Squad and about 30 police cars in the School Car Park. That must be where the police are base.d
They got in, and Looked at a queue of 100 people for Ice cream, and a similar queue for Beer in a plastic cup for £7.50.
They wandered over to the fairway, and were surprised when a ball landed in front of them. They just don't get the hole "golf" thiing.
I was then receiving texts with names of the golfers who were in front of them. I had to tell them if they were good or not.
Then they got into the stands, and they watched a few people hitting balls with sticks. (Their description not mine) .
Then they got bored and went to partake in their favourite Tooli Holiday Sport. Pool in the pub.
On the walk along South Beach from the course, they passed no one. No one is allowed to park either, so it was a very quiet walk.
The regular pub they play in had removed the pool table.
So they had a drink and then wandered up the road to the Anchorage Hotel. They had a pool table.
I finished up about 1730 and drove into the town, noting that the planners have realised their mistake with one roundabout and had repainted the lines over night - causing much confusion. I can't leave work by the normal route - there are "No Right Turns". I'd have to drive a mile and a half to Prestwick and then turn round.
So i drive half a mile up the road and join the road farther back.
Police had shut off the exit to the A78 - so the traffic was tailed back . Which was great, when the car behind me decided that he must be on a two lane road and tried to over take me.
Buses pulling out of Car parks willy nilly. Awful.
Town was simple. No one parked there. I was able to park close to the pub and headed in. Past the hoards of 4 men watching the golf on massive screens. The three staff behind the bar who looked bored useless.
The pair of them were on their sixth game and were pleasantly merry.
I watched their last game and we headed home via Morrison - which was also empty.
I feel so sorry for the shops. They have put their heart and soul in to "Golfing" up their stores, and there is just no increased footfall. One of them even said, "the locals are staying away because they are avoiding the 'expected crowds' so we are quieter then normal".
What a palaver, for men hitting little balls with sticks.
