Shameless selfie piccies

Today is em's birthday.

Her company gives staff a bonus day off for their birthdays.

So this morning I walked the dogs, had a two hour physio session at the hospital followed by Em and I going for afternoon tea (thank you husband for the lift) at Newbury Manor river bar

Well that turned out to be quite disappointing. Stale sandwiches, dried out bought in cakes, in edible scones and one complaint later oh and a tweet to the vineyard at stockcross to say we would be returning to them next year (instant reply - as always on the ball) we eventually only had to pay for half the lunch. Shocking customer service attitude to very apologetic complaint.

Slightly embarrassed to have recommended it to Em now.

We soothed ourselves whilst walking back by piling into Dunelm fuel charged with gin and bought some storage bags to assist with packing for em's imminent house move.

Whilst strolling back to town down the canal we decided to make an impromptu visit to the evening races which we could hear had started up.

A few more gins and a couple of winners by me later plus a completely rank bottle of rosé it was time for husband to come pick us up from the racecourse.

Ooo I forgot to mention we bumped into Claire Balding who was absolutely adorable and I thanked her for flagging riding for the disabled at the races tonight she is such a very pretty professional lady. Em said I had a couple of tv cameras and a sound boom practically in my face whilst taking to her. I have to say I didn't notice I was just so star struck at how lovely she is.

We even remembered to collect Em's Dunelm bag from the toilets under the royal box where we had hidden it amongst the spare toilet rolls as we were embarrassed carrying a dunelm by round. It was only after hiding it that we realised we could have caused a security alert for the hidden bag...ooops

Did I mention how lovely Clare Balding is...hic...
