Remembering John

Today we attended the funeral of our friend, John Thomson.

John was buried in the grounds of his home just outside the village of Crathie.  The service was very ‘green’ and he was buried next to his wife Alicia.

Their son Charlie had invited us to attend. Pat and I drove early in the morning and despite several diversions and a very foggy climb up to Cairn’O Mount we arrived in time.

Afterwards we spent time with the small group of family and friends before we drove back home.

John and Alicia have never been mentioned in my Blipfoto because the events we shared occurred before I started Blipfoto.

John became something a recluse after Alicia died.

Alicia’s artist’s worked mainly in Poland and some of them created several beautiful Amber jewellery. Pat wore her two favourite broach and necklace.

Crathie is very close to Balmoral and the building featured in the ‘thumbnail’ is Balmoral.

As is so often the case, the return journey was by a different route and we stopped at the Persie Distillery near Blairgowrie.

The distillery is owned and run by Simon and Chrissie Fairclough.

It is some time since we called into the Distillery and Chrissie greeted us effusively. ‘Good grief! I thought you pair were dead!’
