Egg and Spoon

After one final swim in the river, the boys and I rushed back to Bristol for the sporting highlight of the week .... Leyla's sports day. For once it wasn't cancelled due to inclement weather, although it was 28C, and the athletes were finding the conditions tough. I took dozens of photos - snaps really - and settled on this one because it has the beautiful Ashton Court manor house in the background.

It's hard to know what the parental role at a primary school sports day is these days. There is no element of competition so no reason to cheer on your precious to win. They seemed to all enjoy themselves though, whilst us old schoolers stood on the sidelines whittering on about the old days when there were parents races and house cups.
