Pauper Statue

These Pauper Statues are a uniquely Swedish and Finnish phenomenon. There's often a text plaque spurring parishers to help poor people by dropping a coin in a slot in the statue. The garment is typically from the early 19C, when there was a war in Finland, causing many soldiers to lose legs and arms.
