Reflections on a retirement
Went to Glynis's retirement do this evening at Bewl Water in Kent. Glynis was retiring after 37 years in the same school. She joined the school in September 1976 at the same time as I did so I was there at the beginning and there at the end although our paths went different ways. I didn't know most of the people at the celebration but there were 4 or 5 people who were from my time at the school and it was good to see them and see how they'd weathered over the 30 years since I left the school in 1983. They all looked pretty good, time had been kind to them all.
I was hoping for an interesting blip from the do, but it was a challenge to get anything else other than groups of people, then I noticed the reflections in this chap's glasses and so was able to get a different angle on the event.
There was a boat trip about Bewl Water as part of the event, it was a lovely evening for a trip on the lake, sunny, warm and calm. A glass of wine went down well too. This shot was taken on the boat.
So a good evening was had by all and it finished off another busy day - from washing off blackfly at the allotment, going to the gym and doing a bit of work for the company in the afternoon. It's going to be hot tomorrow and we're off to the Kent County Show at Detling, so we hope to be there early(ish)
