Return to the North

By Viking

40 years and counting

In September 1984 I met all these lovely ladies. We were impressionable, naive, excited to be at teacher training college, wildly optimistic about the difference we were going to make to young people’s lives.

Tomorrow three more arrive for the festivities and there are two of us out of shot, 2 who couldn’t get away for the weekend and one in NZ.

As a group we have experienced life’s ups and downs. One of us had a massive stroke that changed their lives irrevocably, one lost a husband while she was still quite young, 4 of us have had breakdowns of some sort or another, many of us have lost one or both our parents, one of us had cancer and recovered another (the reason why we are down near Bristol) has received a terminal diagnosis. Through it all we have remained friends and supported each other through messages, visits and prayers.
This weekend we are having a 40 year reunion :-) Getting down here to Chepstow has been mammoth on the Friday everybody and their bloody aunt set off for their holidays! But we made it! Let the 80’s playlist begin :-)
