Down For A Drink

Two playful goldfinches dropped out of the willow in the middle of the inlet. I assume they came for a drink, but it's possible they like to nibble on the soupy green algae.

There's virtually no movement in the surface, there being no water source to feed the inlet, so it stagnates. As summer progresses it concentrates into a thick sludge. Doesn't seem to worry the birds though.
