A lovely evening with Jeffrey, Greg (Pinto), Marshall, Rick (who I haven't seen for years) and Jenae in a waterfront meyhane* in Arnavutkoy. Today's pic is the view from the restaurant window.
This was a very welcome way to end a day where after the morning art class, which was fine, I had an at home afternoon of melancholy where much thought was given to Graham and Kat driving to the UK, and how different it's going to be in Akbuk - even though it would be anyway, now that I've moved to my lovely villa - a bittersweet change for us all in many ways. Also of considerable concern was the distressing news from my brother that Harry the cat is very, very unhappy at home in Chelmsford, crying so much when alone that neighbours have mentioned it. He's never been alone - there's always been other cats, and people, around if I'm not which of course I almost always have been, all his life. What can I do? Even if I could bring him back to Turkey, which I can't, at least, not for months, - he couldn't be at the site apartment anymore, not just because there's no one now to feed him when I'm in Istanbul or Essex - nor is there at the villa. What to do? It's tearing me up knowing my boy is unhappy.
*Meyhane : an establishment of the Ottoman Empire for eating with friends, particularly associated with Istanbul, a place where mezzes (special local appetizers) are served with alcohol - usually raki. For example here.
