Freeing The Bird

We awoke to the sound of a little animal coming from somewhere in our bedroom.  Our investigations soon led us to find a little bird trapped in the space between the original leaded window and the steel framed double glazing windows which provide heat and sound insulation.

The glass in the original window is very thin and is prone to breakage. Our fine feathered friend had flown through a recently broken glass at the top of the original window and had become trapped at the cill level.

The new windows can be opened but not easily. We have heat recovery ventilation throughout.

Clearing away the plants, sculptures and ceramics took some time and then we cautiously opened the window.

After 3 attempts we managed to cover the trapped bird in a dish towel. I carefully carried the bird in the towel to the outside and let the bird fly away quite unharmed.
