Champion's League 1st qualifying round 1st leg


Aaron and me went to see Champion's League football in Wales...well, Oswestry at any rate.

I'm pretty sure this is the earliest in the season I've ever seen a match, and definitely the earliest competitive match. Going to Park Hall was a slightly different experience to normal, not going in through a turnstile but through what had the feel of a social club, and I did like the 'European wall' above the bar*.

The game itself got off to a flying start for Saints, celebrating their 4th minute opener here. That goal put the dampner on the Montenegrin Decic fans not far from us, even more so when the second goal went in. The third goal was a bit of a comedy of errors, not helped by the torrential rain that came down for most of the game*. A high looping corner that bounced about 5 times before anybody managed to do anything with it.
Unfortunately, as is so often the case with a. 3-0 half time lead, the second half was relatively tame but a 3 goal lead should see TNS through to the 2nd qualifying round against Ferencvaros...we may well be back.
