Diglis Island

We went to Cafe Afloat for coffee this afternoon.   When they closed up at 3:30 we took a little drive to Diglis Island.  The Island lies between the canal, two of the deepest locks in England, and the river.  There is a lock-keepers house, built 1844, in the middle, not accessible by any motor transport,  which could be a problem for new owners as the right hand side of the double house is up for sale. I don't envy the removal people!  Also the house is prone to flooding.

There are also old workshops and chapel, and a Fish Pass, a kind of aquarium, where if you're lucky you can see fish crossing from the river to the canal.  The island is open to visitors once  a week for a tour, ticket entrance only.

The main picture is the lock-keepers house, the extra is Ann admiring the view in the sun and my attempt at blurring running water.
