Today's the day ..................... for biomass

Disappointing summer weather aside, we're just at that point in the year when the amount of growth of everything in the garden (including weeds) goes into over-drive.

It's a fine balance between incredible cascades of flowers, like the rose above - and so much biomass, where the plants that are set on taking over the universe, overwhelm the more subtle little gems that are doing their best to get noticed (Nigella in extra).

I leave you with the second extra - a glimpse into a little bit of my 'cut flower' garden - just before it all goes pear-shaped and you'll need a machete to get in there ....................!
