FUTURISTIC OR PRE HISTORIC ?

I have lived in this cottage on and off for 23 years and have never seen this cactus bloom. One of the previous owners planted the cactus plants years ago and we have added a few indigenous plants to the collection.
I took a few quick photos before going to the market, deciding that I would do a proper job when I returned. Well by that time the blooms were closing! Not sure if they will open tomorrow.
They almost look human !
