Bursting bottlebrush
Sometimes I think my bottlebrush shrub (Callistemon) is very boring and I wonder why I allow it to take up space in my flower border. Then in July it is time for the bottlebrushes to bust out of their green seed-like buds and I am reminded all over again why I like this plant so much. My blip shows the fluffy flower head looking as if it is struggling to escape from its buds and the extra shows how glorious the red cylindrical flowers look once they are in full bloom. I’m persuaded, it can stay where it is!
