Pauper Woman
This is something special – a Pauper Woman from Soini parish in Bothnia region. For reasons unknown the local priest wanted a female statue by the church's doorside to loosen the purse strings of churchgoers. This happened in 1852 and cost the parish five silver coins. This statue has been on show on several occasions, including Italy.
The text translates like this: Whoever Giveth to the Poor, Lendeth to Lord.
